It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anny Sui-Fong Fung (馮湘湘), beloved wife of Peter T. Lam (林达敏), on 16 October 2022 at the Princes Margaret Hospital.

Anny was a creative writer. She has published 22 books and in additional, over 1,000 articles and short essays. She is acclaimed by literary circles in Hong Kong and by expatriate Chinese writers all over the world:

• Resident Writer, Jinan University, Guangzhou
• In 1995, the United Nations World Conference on Women (UNWCW) was held in Beijing. The Chinese government selected 13 Chinese women writers from overseas and published a book for each of them. Anny was selected.
• In 1997, “The Devil from Xinjiang” won the Best Novel Award from the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Their magazine World Chinese Literature published a special issue on her, featuring her on the cover.
• In 2004, the essay “This Night at Sai Yee Street” was selected by Oxford University Press for inclusion in a high school Chinese reader.
• She was the first Public Relations Director of the Hong Kong Writers’ Association
• Founding Vice-President of the Toronto Chinese Writers Association.

She is lovingly remembered by Peter, her husband of 33 years; son Kaishun; sister Alice; brothers Guoji, Suihui; nieces Anni, Jialin; nephews Xiaohua, Jiaqi.
