On January 28, 1932, in Rosario de Santa Fe, Argentina, Antonia Isabel Grasso —La Titi— was born. Daughter of Judith Marchelli and Francesco Grasso, she came into the world on a stormy night filled with flashes of light. She was blessed to be raised with the greatest love by Don Enrique Lucero, her father of the heart. La Titi grew up in an Italian immigrant family, where she learned the value of family unity, the importance of Sunday gatherings around the table, and the gift of making everyone feel that nothing was missing, even when there was very little. From the women in her family, she inherited her strong character and determined spirit. From the men in her family, she inherited her noble soul and the strength to never give up. From a very young age, she learned to sew, and with her Singer sewing machine and her hands, she created beautiful things to dress her children, the girls in the neighborhood, and later, her grandchildren. Blessed with a unique beauty and a spark that could light up everything around her, she met her husband, Alfredo Du Carmen, while dancing the tango. And under the stage name Lucerito y Salcedo, dance after dance, they welcomed their children, Concepción and Alfredo, and together embarked on adventures that the little Titi, who watched John Wayne movies playing a mounted police officer, could never have imagined. And so she arrived in Canada, where she was happy and embraced life wholeheartedly, because Titi always walked forward with determination and never let anything intimidate her. She loved Argentina and never forgot her family, friends, and neighbors from Pasaje Payró, but she was always grateful for and cherished the life she built in Canada. When she became the grandmother of Hernán, Martín, Noelia, Melissa, and Facundo, she embraced the role she loved most. Throughout the years, Titi raised and cared for them, cooked with love, fought for those she loved, and above all, loved immeasurably. She loved having a little piece of chocolate before going to bed; nothing made her happier than a dessert or an ice cream, and she loved the sea and her novelas. She traveled to places she had never imagined, laughed until she was exhausted, and lived life intensely. At 86, when it seemed she had already done and experienced everything, destiny once again moved its magical threads and revealed to her the last great mystery of her life: learning the story of her father. She embraced her Sicilian family and, like a little girl, delighted in one last great journey. A warrior with boundless strength, she made it to the age of 94 without ever losing the light in her eyes or her infinite beauty. On August 15, 2026, Titi embarked on her final great journey, held by the love of her family. She returned to the arms of her son and her husband, and to that great clan where it had all begun — and surely, they welcomed her with the table already set. Here on earth, she will forever be remembered and loved by her daughter, Concepción; her daughter-in-law, Liliana; her cousin and godson, Antonio, and his wife Marta; her grandchildren, Hernán, Martín, Noelia, Melissa, and Facundo; her great-grandchildren, Justin, Desiree, Martin Jr., Mia, Julia, Daniel, and Javier; and her great-great-grandchildren, Zharamae and Carmelo. She is lovingly mourned by Anna, José, Ariel, Antonella, Santiago, Jacqueline, Julieta, Bryan, Isabella, and Skylene, her nieces and nephew; her lifelong friends and companions, Mirtha and Haydeé; her beloved guardians, Frida and Lucy; and countless people who loved her and whom she loved in return.
Dear Titi, we will forever honour your legacy of love.
