Azard Walkin

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Azard Walkin on August 14, 2026, at the age of 39.

Azard leaves behind his loving partner, Petra, and their cherished daughter, Azalea, who were at the very centre of his life, as well as his mother, Joan, his father, Samuel, his siblings, Deanna, Jevon, Nelisha, Jemel, and Javon, his uncle Geoffrey, his aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family, his parents in law Judit and Zsolt, his brother in law Bence, his sister in law Patricia, his goddaughter Syra, his godson Anthony, friends, neighbours, colleagues and all those whose lives he touched in Canada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad, and beyond.

Azard was born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on December 3, 1986, and spent part of his life in Trinidad. At the age of 25, he moved to Canada to start a new chapter of his life where he was welcomed and supported by his uncle, Geoffrey, and his family. Not long after settling in Toronto, he met Petra, and their story together began.

For Azard, family was everything. The life he shared with Petra and Azalea meant more to him than anything else. He found happiness not only in the big moments, but especially in the simple, everyday moments they shared as a family. A walk to the park, a family road trip, an adventure in nature, or simply spending time together could become a treasured memory.

Azard and Petra shared more than 13 years together, building a life filled with love, family, friendship, and countless memories. Along the way, Petra’s family became his family too, and he shared a close bond with her parents and siblings, including a special bond with his goddaughter, Syra, whose life he had been part of from the day she was born. As a couple, they enjoyed going out for dinner, spending time together, and above all, finding ways to make their daughter happy. Over the years, they stood by each other through the good days, the difficult ones, and everything in between.

Being a father was one of the greatest joys of his life. He loved being involved in Azalea's world and was always there for her swimming, gymnastics classes, and sporting events, proudly supporting and encouraging her along the way. They also shared a love of collecting cards, which became another special way for them to spend time together and create memories of their own.

He was also an incredibly hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. He was always up before the sun, starting his day early and working long hours to make sure the people he loved were cared for. He worked in the taping profession, where he formed many friendships, including a close friendship with TJ, with whom he shared many years in the trade. His colleagues will remember the smile and positive energy he brought to work each day, always putting a smile on the faces of those around him. His hard work was another way he showed his love and dedication to the people who meant the most to him.

He had a true love for sports and enjoyed following the NBA, the FIFA World Cup, and West Indies cricket. He could often be found cheering on the Toronto Raptors with friends and family. Those who knew Azard will remember his smile, his laughter, and the kindness he showed to the people around him. He was a familiar and friendly presence in his neighbourhood, where he was known and loved by many who saw him almost every day. He was someone others could count on, always willing to lend a hand and putting the needs of others before his own. Caring for people was simply part of who he was.

His life was centered on his love for his family and being present for the people who mattered most to him. His time with them was far too short, but the love he gave, the memories he created, and the life he built with Petra and Azalea will remain with them always.

In honour of Azard and his favourite colour, family and friends are warmly invited to wear a red accessory, such as earrings, a ring, tie, necklace, or bracelet, as a special tribute to his memory.

Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St, between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery, it is the first building on your left. The family will receive guests on Friday August 28, 2026 from 11:00am to 2:00pm. The funeral service will take place in the Trillium Burial to follow at Westminster Cemetery.
