Obituary

Carmela Stellato, a cherished soul whose life journey began on February 14, 1940, in the historic city of Rende Cosenza, Italy, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 17, 2026, at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital in Vaughan, Ontario. She was surrounded in her final moments by her devoted son Domenico Stellato, his loving wife Anna Stellato, and her beloved grandchildren Cesare Julian Stellato, Daniel Antonio Stellato, and Carmela Emilia Stellato.

Born and raised in Rende Cosenza, Carmela’s early years were rooted in the rich traditions and enduring spirit of her Italian heritage. Throughout her life, she embodied grace, strength, and an unwavering commitment to her family—qualities that deeply endeared her to all who knew her.

In her later years, Carmela was supported with compassion and dedication by a remarkable team of caregivers. The family is forever grateful to the support workers from Spectrum Health Care who cared for her daily, offering comfort, dignity, and kindness throughout the final chapter of her life. In particular, they extend their heartfelt thanks to Rebecca, Arielle, Jiovan, Dorkas, and Harleen, whose presence and care meant so much to Carmela and to her entire family.

Carmela’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her surviving family members. Her son Domenico Stellato, who stood steadfastly by her side, carries forward her legacy of kindness and resilience. Anna Stellato, her daughter-in-law, together with their children—Cesare Julian Stellato and his partner Silvana Eusse, Daniel Antonio Stellato, and Carmela Emilia Stellato—continue to draw strength from Carmela’s memory and the values she instilled. She will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, who cherished her deeply.

She is also remembered tenderly by her sister Anna Chiapetta and brother-in-law Emilio Chiapetta, along with her siblings-in-law Rita, Angelo, and Bruno, all of whom mourn the loss of a beloved sister and sister-in-law.

Carmela was preceded in death by her devoted husband Cesare, her beloved daughter Maria, her brother Nicola and sister-in-law Rosina, her brother Santo, and her sisters Concetta and Gilda. Though they have passed, their memories remain woven with Carmela’s, forming a tapestry of love and shared history cherished by all who hold her dear.

Carmela Stellato’s life was one of enduring devotion to family and the quiet dignity with which she approached every chapter of her story. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who lovingly gathered around her in her final hours, as well as in the generations who carry her name and spirit forward.

A woman of both warmth and strength, Carmela will be remembered not only for the family she nurtured, but also for the grace with which she faced life’s challenges. Her legacy remains a beacon of love and unity for all who were fortunate to know her.
