With heavy hearts, the family of Carol Elizabeth Wallace announces her passing on December 11, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario. Carol lived a long and meaningful life, marked by devotion to her family, quiet kindness, and an appreciation for the simple comforts that make a house feel like home.
Born on March 21, 1942, in Tara, Ontario, Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband, Douglas Leon Wallace, whose memory she held close, by her son Jeffrey Douglas Wallace, by her sister Anne Tobey, by her parents, Irwin and Patricia Tobey, by her grandson Tyler Cohen-Wallace and by her granddaughter Amanda DaSilva. These losses shaped her life, yet she carried on with strength, grace, and a deep love for those around her.
Carol will be lovingly remembered by her children, Susan Wallace, Tracey Wallace-DaSilva and Alberto DaSilva, Jennifer Wallace and Eric Cohen, her granddaughter Angela, and her great-grandchildren, Audrianna, Kaiden, Dominic and Alannah. She was a steady and caring presence in their lives — someone who showed her love through patience, listening, and the quiet ways she supported those she cared for.
Carol found great happiness and peace at her waterfront ponderosa on the shores of Lake Huron in Sauble Beach, Ontario. She spent many hours knitting and crocheting, often creating items meant to warm and comfort others. Based on her career as a nurse she was an advocate for those who weren’t able to speak up for themselves right up until the end. She enjoyed reading, took great pleasure in the companionship of her cats, and could always be counted on to relax with a glass of her favourite pinot grigio. These simple joys reflected her calm nature and her ability to find contentment in everyday moments.
Those who knew Carol will remember her for her warmth, her witty sense of humour, her steadiness, and the sense of comfort she brought into a room. Her life reminds us that love is often shown not in grand gestures, but in consistency, care, and presence.
Carol will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites donations in Carol’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Lung Association, Tyler’s Wonderland, or a local food bank or animal rescue.
