With hearts full of love and gratitude, the family announces the passing of Domenico D’Urzo, who passed away on December 29, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario.
Born on November 2, 1930, in Santonofrio, Catanzaro, Italy Domenico carried his Italian roots with immense pride throughout his life. After making Canada his home, he became a familiar and deeply cherished presence in his community, known for his warmth, generosity, and unmistakable spirit.
An amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Domenico dedicated his life to his family and those around him. Giving came naturally to him — he gave his time, his kindness, and his heart without reservation, finding true joy in always being there for others.
Generous and kind to all, Domenico earned the affection and respect of everyone who knew him. He was the devoted husband of Caterina and his greatest joy in life was his family. He was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, sharing meals, stories, laughter, and meaningful time together.
Affectionately known as a true social butterfly, Domenico never missed an opportunity for conversation and sharing his wisdom. His regular coffee outings were moments of connection, friendship, and joy. With his natural warmth and easy smile, he had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. Domenico enjoyed playing Italian card games and was a loyal and passionate supporter of the Juventus soccer team, a devotion he proudly carried for many years.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Caterina and children, Marianna Zappone (d. 1988 Gregorio Zappone), Teresa Bhandal (d. 2021 Tari Bhandal), Anthony D’Urzo (Deborah D’Urzo), grandchildren, Tina Riga (Luccio Riga), Fortunato Zappone, Cathy Vescio (Val Vescio), Devra D’Urzo (Christopher Rudman), Sunny Bhandal, Katrina D’Urzo (Brian Beaudette) and Adelle D’Urzo (Mason Paugh) and his great-grandchildren Bruno Riga, Gregorio Riga, Antonio Riga, Gregorio Zappone, Isabella Zappone, Domenico Zappone, Valente Vescio, Nicola Vescio, Lucas Rudman, Jack Rudman, Emily Rudman all of whom were a constant source of pride and happiness in his life.
