Eugenio De Cesare

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eugenio De Cesare, who died peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the age of 92. Eugenio was born on January 31, 1934, into a large and loving family deeply rooted in the soil of Calabria, Italy. He was one of eleven children — six brothers, three sisters, and one half-sister — and his early years were shaped by that close-knit family and the land they called home. He spent his childhood on a farm in Mariano Principato, in the province of Cosenza, where the values of hard work, faith, and family were instilled in him from a young age. Seeking a new life and greater opportunity, Eugenio left Italy for Toronto, Canada, where he built a home and a future for his own family. His son, Francesco, was born in Italy before the family made the journey, and soon after they landed in Toronto, his daughter, Andrea, was born. Both children were raised in the city that became their new home.

Eugenio was a devoted husband to his late wife, Veneranda, loving father, to Francesco and his wife Palma, daughter Andrea; a cherished Nonno to Alessandro & Ivona, Vanessa & Jonathan and Christian & Vanessa. He was a proud Bisnonno to Matteo, Dominik and Harrison. His life was one of perseverance, sacrifice, and an unwavering love for his family and those around him. His story is one that carried the spirit of his Calabrian roots across an ocean and passed it down through generations.

Eugenio is survived by his children and brother Mario, Antonio and sister Maria that live in California. He touched so many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
