Eugenio Guido, a master carpenter whose hands crafted beauty from timber and whose heartbeat joyfully for his family and tradition, passed away on June 18, 2025, in East York, Ontario, Canada. Born on October 17, 1945, in Carolei, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, Eugenio journeyed through life, weaving together love, laughter, and craftsmanship with each passing year.
Eugenio's dedication to the art of carpentry was not merely a profession but a manifestation of his soul. With every piece of wood he shaped, he imparted a part of himself, creating not just furniture, but cherished memories that would be revered by those who would inherit them. His legacy will forever stand as a testament to his unwavering commitment to quality and his passion for his craft.
Beyond the workshop, Eugenio found joy in life’s simpler pleasures. He was an aficionado of wine and sausage making, reveling in the rich flavors that connected him to his Italian heritage, sharing these delights with family and friends, and often bringing everyone together around a table filled with good food and warm companionship.
His children, Santino and Josie (with Chris), carry forward his indomitable spirit, as do his beloved grandchildren Ava, James, and Matthew, who he adored. They are each instilled with the love and wisdom passed down through generations.
Eugenio was predeceased by his parents, Santo and Giuseppina, who watched over him from afar, nurturing his dreams and aspirations. He will always be remembered fondly by his many siblings, whose lives were enriched by his presence, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews who looked up to their uncle with admiration and respect.
Eugenio Guido did not simply live; he carved his existence with intention and love. As he takes his final journey, we invite all to celebrate a life that was rich with experiences, a heart that was generous with love and kindness, and a spirit that will linger in our memories—alive in every piece of wood, in every glass raised in his honor, and in the warmth of family gatherings that he treasured deeply. May his memory continue to inspire and unite us as we carry forward his remarkable legacy.
If so desired donations can be made in memory of Eugenio to Canadian Cancer Society
