After a tremendous three-year battle with cancer, Evelyn Lenti died peacefully on October 4, 2025 at the age of 60.
Evelyn was born in Toronto on November 15, 1964 to Siegfried and Edith Wichert. As a child, she loved riding her bike and spending time puttering around with her father. She remained close to both of her parents until their passing, serving as their primary caregivers.
She met the love of her life, Tony Lenti, in 1981 at the age of 17, and the high-school sweethearts spent nearly 45 years together in bliss. They married in 1988 and had two children, the pride of her life: Louie (Kristen) and Erica (Arielle).
Evelyn’s greatest joy was the birth of her beloved grandson, Gabriel, in May 2025. Though their time together was brief, she soaked up every moment giggling and playing with him.
She is also survived by her father-in-law, Luigi; mother-in-law, Rosina; her sister-in-law Mary and brother-in-law Neil; and her nephews, John and Michael.
Evelyn was a stay-at-home mom for over a decade, devoting her life to her family. In her 40s, she returned to work as an executive assistant at H&R Reit, where she found purpose and friendship at the office until her retirement earlier this year.
Throughout her cancer journey, Evelyn showed courage and strength. She rarely complained, instead opting to host regular Saturday lunches at her North York home, where she raised her children and built a life for more than 35 years. She loved spending quiet afternoons watching House Hunters with her family and cuddling their dog, Belle.
Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Evelyn’s care team at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, led by her oncologist Dr. Neesha Dhani, her palliative care doctors Dr. Wilson Kwong and Dr. Jacqueline Alcalde-Castro, and countless nurses and care providers.
Visitation will be held at the Westminster Funeral and Reception Centre on October 8, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will follow on October 9, 2025 at 11 a.m.
