Filomena Fusco

It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Filomena Fusco (nee Evangelista), peacefully on May 2^nd, 2023, at Toronto General Hospital at the age of 90. She was surrounded by her loving family until her final moments.

Filomena was born to the late Filippo and Rosa Evangelista on June 27th, 1932 in Bojano, Molise, Italy. She later immigrated to Canada where she settled down with her husband Domenico "Mario" Fusco.

A dedicated homemaker and seamstress, Filomena cherished her family above all else. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and expressing her creativity through homemade textiles and clothing. Filomena spent much of her time as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. She was an accomplished seamstress, creating outfits for her family and repairing/altering clothes for extended family.  She had a true talent for it and created many beautiful pieces throughout the years.  Some of her favourite hobbies included gardening, cooking and watching all sports.  Her favorite teams were The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. Curling was also one of her passions although we never quite understood why. She loved family above all else and in recent years had the joy of spending time with her 3 great grandchildren.  Filomena's hardworking nature and warm presence will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Filomena is survived by her daughters Rosanna (Kyle) Prosser and Mary Pinkney, her sister Elena (Gino) DeLuca, her grandchildren, Christine, Daniel, Josh, Laura, Serena and Nicholas, great grandchildren Evelyn, Ezra and Leonara and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Domenico "Mario" Fusco, father Filippo and mother Rosa, brothers Antonio and Liberato and sister Anna Maria.

Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St. between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery (5830 Bathurst St.). After the long driveway, it is the first building on your left. The family will receive guests on Tuesday, May 9^th, 2023, from 12:00pm until the commencement of the Funeral Service at 1:00pm with entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery & Mausoleum.
