Franco Cieri

Franco was born in Abruzzo Italy on February 14, 1934, to father Pietro and mother Alterina.  He was the second youngest of four siblings, two brothers and a sister.  He worked hard with his father to maintain their farm until he immigrated to Canada in 1957.  When he arrived in Canada he began to work at CP Rail in Sudbury and continued to work in construction for De Luca Construction Company in Toronto until his retirement.  Franco was a proud member of local Union 506, and very active in the union community participating in weekly club events and was a regular first place winner of the annual Bocce tournaments.  He and his wife Anna prepared many meals for the club members including Christmas and New Years, where they enjoyed many celebrations together and with their community.  Franco, was a loving father to his son Paolo, father-in-law to Stefanie and loving grandfather to his two grandchildren Gregory and Michael.  Franco was married to a loving wife and partner Anna for 64 years. Together they opened their doors to friends and family enjoying card games along with great food and home made wine. Franco was a kind and gentle man who loved his garden, animals and enjoyed his friends and family.  He will be missed by all.  May he rest in peace.
