Gary McKnight

October 11, 1962 — September 29, 2023

It is with a deep sense of loss that we announce the gentle passing of our loved one, Gary Earl McKnight, on  September 29, 2023 at the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, Toronto. Gary is the son of Betty McKnight (nee McQuinn) and the late Gerald McKnight of Apohaqui, N.B.

He will be deeply missed by his Mom and his siblings Debby Finnigan, Auckland NZ, Kathy McKnight, Apohaqui, Terry (Donna) McKnight, Sussex as well as aunt Almeda McKnight, uncles Gordon (Winnie) McKnight and Bill (Darlene) McKnight, nephews Justin (Missy) McKnight, Joshua (Randi) McKnight and Luke (Sara) McKnight, John (Reegan) Finnigan, niece Destiny (Roland) Graves, great nieces and nephews Samantha, Autumn, Arielle, Lauryn, Jack, Johnathan, Lila and many cousins.

Gary was a gentle soul with a big heart. He was sensitive to the needs of others and exceptionally thoughtful in his gift-giving. He was a talented musician with a special love of playing the pipe organ. Because of his rich tenor voice, he was affectionately known to us as our family's Pavarotti. A more recent passion of Gary's was to try to help people find solutions to their health issues. He wanted people to always have hope.

To Kirby, the paramedics and all the staff at Mackenzie Health and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospitals, thank you so very much for your compassionate and dedicated care of Gary, which allowed him to have more time with us. To the people in Toronto who became Gary's second family, you will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Should you wish to make a donation in Gary's memory, may we suggest  Covenant House or the Leprosy Mission of Canada. Both of these organizations were dear to him.

A celebration of Gary's life will be held at the Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre at a later date. Details to follow.
