Giuseppe Masucci May 1, 1928 – March 14, 2026 Born in Roccamandolfi, Province of Isernia, Molise, Italy Passed away in Toronto, Ontario, Canada Age 97
With deep sadness, the Masucci family announces the passing of Giuseppe Masucci, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great‑grandfather, and a man whose life was defined by sacrifice, perseverance, and unwavering love for his family.
Born in Roccamandolfi, Molise, Giuseppe was the beloved son of Domenica Iannitelli and Domenico Masucci. His life began with humble means, and as his family recalls, “he was given nothing from anyone including his parents, and worked hard all of his life… everything he owns to date and leaves behind for his children, he worked for it.” Through grit, determination, and an unbreakable spirit, he built a legacy that will endure for generations.
At 17, Giuseppe became engaged to the love of his life, Angela Ciallella, and at 20 they married, beginning a partnership that lasted nearly 77 years. After completing military service at 22, he left Italy with “1,000 lire, 1 litre of wine and a loaf of bread and cheese” and traveled to France, where he worked in the coal mines for nearly five years. Every lira he earned went toward buying land and rebuilding the family home.
His search for work later took him to Germany and Poland. Each summer he returned home to work the land before leaving again to support his family. In 1963 he together with his wife Angela immigrated to Canada together with their 4 children, always striving to give his family a better life. From the very next day he started working as a construction worker, and although the weather conditions were severe at the time of his arrival in Canada, he endured it all. He made friends easily and was deeply respected for his skills and work ethics by peers and employers alike.
Despite having only, a grade‑three education, Giuseppe possessed remarkable intelligence, especially in mathematics. Even in his final week, while playing cards, his sharp memory never faltered. He was proud, independent, and rarely accepted help — “right up to the hour before he passed.”
Giuseppe loved his garden, growing vegetables, his chickens, growing camomile(1000 bundles per year. Enjoyed his homemade wine, sardines, and hot peppers, but above all, he loved his children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren. “He waited each day for family and loved a full house… he was happiest when all of us were there.” He remembered every visit and missed those who could not come. A true family man, he cared for Angela with unwavering devotion and always ensured she was looked after.
He is survived by his loving wife Angela Ciallella Masucci. Children, Palma Maria, Lucia (Lucy), Liberato (Libby), Domenic, Antonio (Tony), Renato (Ronnie)
Son‑in‑law, Ben Abdullahi, Partner, Benny Meffe, Daughters‑in‑law Luisa, Mary. Former son in law, Crescenzo Pallante, Former daughter in Law Letizia. All of whom he loved equally as his own children.
Grandchildren, Maria (Adamo Donatucci), Bertina (Luigi Michelucci), Marcello (Maria), Anthony (Jessica), Joseph, Matthew, Angela, Bianca, Andrew, Rachel, Noah, Joshua, Great‑Grandchildren: Sebastian, Gabriel, Adam, Cristian, Vienna, Lorenzo, Nico. Siblings, predeceased by Maria, Pasquarosa, Nicola, and Benedetto, Survived by Cristina of Boiano, Italy, and Angela of Roccamandolfi, Italy
A Life Well Lived, Giuseppe’s life was a true testament to resilience, loyalty, and love. He built a future from nothing, created a home filled with warmth, and leaves behind a family who will forever carry his strength and spirit.
Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on—in the values he taught, the memories he created, and the family he built. We carry him with us in every gathering, every celebration, every moment of togetherness.
Today, we say goodbye to a remarkable man. But we also say thank you—thank you for the sacrifices, the lessons, the love, and the life he shared with us.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the same love he gave so generously throughout his 97 years.
If so desired donations can be made in memory of Giuseppe to the Canadian Lung Association and Alzheimer's Society.
