It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Giuseppe (Joe) Nudo, a devoted husband, father, and nonno, who passed away surrounded by the family he cherished so dearly.
Born in Cerisano, a town in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria region, Joe began his life in the hills of southern Italy before immigrating to Canada in 1964 to build a new life rooted in hard work, love, and family.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Rita, with whom he recently celebrated 60 years of marriage—a remarkable milestone that reflected their unwavering love and partnership. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Pasquale and Francesco, and their spouses, Lisa and Jill. He will be held dear in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Joe will be reunited with his dear brother, Mario (Connie), with whom he shared a lifelong bond, and his parents, Pasquale and Teresa.
Family and home were always at the heart of Joe’s life. He found great joy in tending to his garden, spending countless hours nurturing his vegetables and herbs, crafting his own wine, and curing meats to share with those he loved. His happiest moments were spent around the family table, enjoying good food, laughter, and stories with family and friends.
A man of strength and quiet devotion, Joe worked hard all his life to provide for his family. Though he carried himself with strength, his heart softened instantly in the presence of his grandchildren, Daniella, Julia Rita Anna, and Gianna, who were his greatest joy. To them, he was not only a nonno, but also a teacher, a caregiver, and a source of unconditional love.
Joe will be remembered as a hard worker, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a wonderful nonno. His legacy of love, dedication, and family traditions will continue to live on through those who were blessed to know him.
If so desired donations can be made in memory of Giuseppe to Alzheimer's Society, Sunnybrook Hospital, Sick Kids, and Heart & Stroke
