With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Grazia Misciagna on June 17, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on April 22, 1933, in Modugno, Italy, Graziella carried within her the strength of her roots and the boundless love of a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She leaves behind her three deeply loved daughters Laura (Jim), Anna (Dave), and Vittoria (Dean) and her treasured grandchildren, Brianna and Deanthony, who brought immense joy and pride to her. She is predeceased in death by her devoted husband Pasquale, dear parents Grazia and Vito Antonio, sister Teresa and brother Giuseppe (Dolores). She is lovingly remembered by her brother Franco (Helen) and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.
Graziella had a wonderful childhood and would often share stories of that time in her life. There was hardship but also joy and lots of love. She was a great storyteller who loved reading and learning about history. She could converse on any topic with anyone. Her vast knowledge and sharp recall ability made her the ‘go to’ person in the family. Graziella had a great sense of humor and loved making others laugh. She was entertaining and fun to be around. She was also full of wisdom and compassion and was never one to shy away to stand up for others and herself.
In 1958, Graziella bravely journeyed across the ocean with her parents and younger brother, beginning a new chapter in Canada. Though she lived most of her life in Canada, her heart never left Italy. She carried its language, its warmth, and its spirit in everything she did.
Upon her arrival, she embraced hard work, first in a cookie factory, and later at Eaton’s as a sewer. Despite facing the challenges of a new language and unfamiliar land, her spirit never wavered. A year later, her fiancé Pasquale joined her in Canada, and together they began a beautiful life, raising their three daughters with endless devotion and resilience.
Graziella was more than a wife. She was also an exceptional business partner to her husband Pasquale. Graziella helped her ambitious carpenter husband build pool tables and foosball tables in their basement, and launching his side businesses successfully. Ten years after arriving in Canada, they both poured their love and courage into creating Victoria Billiards, a welcoming space that became much more than a business. It became a second home to many. With open hands and even bigger hearts, they were known to lend their car, offer shelter, or help someone build a better life. Their kindness left a legacy that lives on in the memories of many.
Graziella was the heart of every gathering, vibrant, spirited, and impossible to miss. She had a gift for conversation and a joy for life that drew people in. Graziella loved singing. Family gatherings often included Graziella leading everyone into song. She also had a genuine interest in people and enjoyed learning about their personal stories.
Her “door is always open” philosophy was more than a saying; it was a way of life. Whether at home, or at the beloved family cottage, Graziella welcomed all with warmth, food, and laughter. One unforgettable example was when Italy won the World Cup. Graziella cooked mountains of spaghetti and fed joyful strangers celebrating on the Danforth.
Though radiant and lively, Graziella was also fiercely strong and resilient. Life handed her great challenges, but she met them with unmatched courage. She was tireless in her care for her family, especially her daughter with cerebral palsy, navigating Toronto by subway to every appointment, adventure, and experience she could give them. She gave her daughters not just love, but strength, memories, and the unwavering knowledge that their mother would always fight for them.
Graziella left an imprint on everyone she encountered. Her laughter, her loyalty, her food, her fire, all remain deeply woven into the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Grazia was a remarkable woman and will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
If so desired donations can be made in memory of Grazia to the Canadian Cancer Society
