It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Helina Efrem, on August 4, 2026, one day after her 50th birthday. She passed away with her loving partner of over 28 years, Shawn Liverpool, and her sister by her side.

Helina was deeply loved and cherished by her family: her daughters Ayana and Zahara Liverpool; her parents, Yekite Kebede and Dr. Efrem Alemayehu; her sister, Wudasie Efrem; her brother, Keduse Efrem; her nephews, Yabsirra and Yunael Derege; and her nieces, Kelile and Zoe Efrem.

Children held a special place in Helina’s heart. In her professional life, she worked as an early childhood educator. Her sincere kindness, infinite patience and caring nature, coupled with her wit, creativity and curiosity allowed her to deeply connect with and enrich the lives of every student she taught and cared for. Her career was a true reflection of both the life she built and the values she held dear.

Helina lived a life full of warmth and beauty, bringing joy and love to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though her absence leaves a profound void, the beautiful memories and the love she shared will remain in our hearts forever.

Helina will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.
