Immacolata Matarozzo

Immacolata (Maria) Matarozzo passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the age of 87.

She was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore; her father, Michele; her mother, Grazia; her brothers, Carmelo and Vincenzo; and her grandson, Michael.

A loving mother to Tony and Carmela, mother-in-law to Fatima and Stephen, and grandmother to Daniela, Brandon and David, Nonna Maria was the queen of her kitchen and happiest when serving up a platter of her famous rice balls, zucchini fritters or gnocchi.

She tended her garden with the same dedication and love she poured into cooking and caring for her family. Each year she battled and conquered every new invasive species that dared to attack her vegetable plants, and she brought equal ferocity to the kidney and heart disease she fought for decades.

She showed by example what true strength and courage looked like through her grit, energy and unwavering work ethic.

The heart and soul of our family, Nonna Maria leaves behind a hole that can never be filled. We take solace in knowing that she is finally at peace, reunited with those she loved, with God’s garden to tend in heaven.
