With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Ivan Kontrec on April 8, 2026, at the age of 64. Ivan was a loving husband to Mira, a devoted father to Irena and Igor, and proud father-in-law to Sam. His presence brought warmth and comfort to his family. Ivan found great joy outdoors. Whether hiking through nature, riding his bike, or taking camping trips in the wilderness, he appreciated the quiet beauty of the world around him. These moments reflected his love for life and his appreciation for the world’s simple pleasures.

Above all, Ivan valued his family and friends. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for those closest to him, and the meaningful way he lived his life. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ivan can be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada (natureconservancy.ca).

Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St, between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery, it is the first building on your left. Visitation will be on Thursday April 16, 2026 from 5:00pm until the commencement of the service at 6:30pm.
