It is with profound sorrow that the family of Liberata Sarracini announces her peaceful passing on February 21, 2026, in her 99th year.
Born in Sora, Italy, she carried with her the values of family, resilience, and hard work when she and her beloved husband, Tommaso, immigrated to Canada to build a new life. Though Tommaso was taken far too soon, Liberata continued forward, with unwavering courage, the life they had begun together, in a home filled with love and encouragement.
Liberata lived a life rooted in love, connection, and devotion to her family, friends, and church. With a generous heart, she always nurtured relationships and brought people together. She worked tirelessly and with care over the years, tending meticulously to her beautiful garden. There was no greater joy for Liberata than her family, and one of her most meaningful expressions of love was through her cooking. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where we gathered each Sunday to share her cherished specialties—gnocchi, sugo, and the ciammella she had perfected. With patience and devotion, she passed down the traditions of making tomato sauce, wine, and baked goods, creating lasting memories of togetherness and teaching us that faith and family are everything. Despite many health setbacks, Liberata leaves behind a legacy of values which she exemplified each and every day. Her memory will live on as a strong woman of quiet resilience who met every challenge with grace.
Liberata is predeceased by her dear husband, Tommaso, daughter, Rosaria, and siblings, Assunta, Francesco, Regina, Giovanna, Vincenza, and Benito. She will be forever remembered by her children, Domenic (Sandra), Gabriel (Lucy), and Gino; her adoring grandchildren - Orion, Rebecca (Matteo), Katherine (Colin), Thomas (Bianca), Madeline (Jens); and her great-grandchildren, Enzo and Vito. She will be missed by her sisters-in-law, Vincenza Sarracini and Fiorina Sarracini, along with her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, would be appreciated.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St., between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery; it is the first building on your left.
