It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Luigi De Chellis at the age of 84. Born on June 14th, 1938 in Campo di Giove, Abruzzo, Italy to Angela and Matteo, he was the oldest of three siblings, his brother Tony and sister Gemma. His family immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1954 as part of the Italian diaspora, where he met and married the girl next door, the love of his life, Marisa Rizi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marisa, and their children Angela, Marco (Angela), Matthew (Miranda). He was the proud Nonno of Victoria (Andrew), Christina, Isabella, Julia, Ava, and Matteo, and proud Bisnonno of Lorenzo.
Luigi had a lively spirit and passion for storytelling. He enjoyed being an active member of his church community as well as the Alpini club and was a frequent visitor at the local community center where he had many friends. His family will always hold dear the stories he shared of his childhood in Italy and his early years in Canada.
His charismatic charm and kindness will forever be greatly missed but never forgotten. He will live on through the memories his family will carry in their hearts forever.
