Luigi Petti, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on May 14, 1935, Luigi lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to those around him.
Luigi was born in Santa Croce di Magliano, Campobasso, Italy. He was the son of Alessandro Petti and Rosa Ciavolla and one of nine brothers and sisters.
Luigi's career in construction was a defining aspect of his life, where he built not just structures, but also lasting relationships that he treasured deeply. Throughout his career, he was known for his work ethic and craftsmanship, leaving an indelible mark on the community he served. His relationships continued beyond his working career as an active member of Local 506, where he spent countless hours organizing and working with his brothers and sisters on numerous social events for the Local.
An avid lover of life, he spent his leisure time enjoying simple yet profound pleasures. From playing Italian cards with friends, engaging in exciting matches of bocce, to meticulously nurturing his tomato garden, Luigi found joy in the little things. These hobbies were not just pastimes but moments where he connected with family and friends, often sharing laughter and stories that will forever resonate in their hearts.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Maria, who stood by his side through every season of life. Their partnership was built on love and mutual respect, a shining example for their children and grandchildren. He leaves behind three devoted children: Rosa (Nick), Maddalena (Ron), and Sandra (James), who have all been shaped by his guidance and unwavering support. His legacy continues in his grandchildren: Nicholas, Michael, Victoria, Angelo, Matthew, Cody, and Lauren, who adored their grandfather and will carry his spirit with them in all that they do.
As we reflect on Luigi’s life, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he selflessly shared. His indomitable spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
We also want to thank all of the staff at Harold & Grace Baker Long Term Care Residence for all of the care and attention that was provided for Luigi and his family.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Luigi to the Liver Canada or Harold and Grace Baker LTC Foundation
