With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Luisa Costantino (née D’Addese), a beloved sister, mother, nonna and bisnonna, who departed this life on June 6, 2025, at the age of 87. Luisa is now reunited in Heaven with her late husband, Angelo. Though she will be deeply missed by her family, her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched with love and grace. She left her family wonderful memories to cherish and to pass down to younger generations. Born May 16, 1938, Luisa was one of nine children born to Gianni D’Addesse and Teresa Forgione in Gesualdo, Avellino. They were a close-knit family, working together to help their father run the town cantina. Despite the heartache of losing their beloved younger brother, Guido—a loss none of them ever forgot—their childhood was filled with joy and family unity. Luisa was the first of her immediate family to leave for Canada. After exchanging a few letters with a fellow Gesualdino (Angelo), she bravely chose to follow him to a new continent and life. She embarked on a long ship ride to Halifax and then a long train ride to Toronto where Angelo and his family were waiting. The two married in 1958, shortly after her arrival in Toronto.
In 1960 Luisa welcomed her first son and eventually there were four children in total: Carmine, Gianni, Guido and Massimo. Luisa and her husband worked tirelessly, making many sacrifices to ensure their children had greater opportunities than they themselves had known. Over time, some of Luisa’s siblings followed her to Canada and, those who did, always found a warm welcome and place to stay in their home.
With a generous spirit, Luisa and Angelo were always willing to help family and friends, a testament to their kindness. Known for her caring and outgoing personality, Luisa had a passion for cooking and baking, delighting family and friends with her culinary creations. Her dishes were not merely meals; they were a feast for the senses, infused with love and served with joy. Luisa was a devoted mother to Carmine (Nancy, predeceased), John (Enza), Guido (Domenica), and Massimo (Regina).
Her home and heart were always open to them and h but she also opened her heart and home to all extended family. She took immense joy in the lives of her grandchildren, Alessia (Ivano), Bianca, Olivia, Luca, Matteo and Siena, and her great-grandsons, Gianluca & Alessandro, each of whom brought her endless pride and happiness.
Luisa will be dearly missed by her many family and friends; her legacy of kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her nurturing spirit and infectious smile created a welcoming atmosphere that made everyone feel at ease, fostering deep connections and cherished friendships. As we gather to celebrate her life, we are comforted by the warmth of the memories she made with us and the love she imparted so generously. Luisa's presence may be gone, but her love remains an everlasting gift in our hearts.
