With full hearts, we share the passing of Mafalda Bartelli, a beloved and devoted mother, cherished matriarch, and a woman whose life was woven with love and generosity. Mafalda passed away on December 8, 2025, at 90 years old, leaving behind a rich legacy of family, tradition, and kindness.
Born on January 3, 1935, Mafalda expressed her creativity and care through her hands. Her artistry extended naturally into her kitchen, a place where she expressed love most deeply. From her well-known lasagna to her unforgettable sponge cake, Mafalda’s cooking brought comfort to every gathering and became a cherished part of family life.
Mafalda had a beautiful sense of style and joy. She delighted in having her hair set, showing off her long red nails, and wearing jewelry that reflected her vibrant spirit. She embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm, especially during her Bingo games, where she enjoyed time with family and friends with the simple happiness of shared laughter.
Predeceased by her dear husband, Marino, Mafalda carried his loving memory throughout her life. She leaves behind her children, Lina Piccione (late husband Peter) and Tony Bartelli (Connie); grandchildren Carmelo (Julia), Maria (Dimitri), Andria, Anthony (Ashlynn), and River (Fila); and her great-grandchildren Luca, Mia, Peter, Elia, and Demetrius, who will forever carry forward the values and traditions she shared with them.
Mafalda’s life was a tapestry of love—stitched together through devotion, resilience, humour, and the joy she found in caring for others. She leaves behind a family strengthened by her example and a legacy that will continue for generations.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honour of Mafalda to Sunnybrook Hospital, Canadian Lung Association and Canadian Cancer Society
