Maria Giorgianni

In loving memory of Maria Giorgianni, who passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on November 22, 1934, Maria was a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her—beloved for her spirited personality, unwavering generosity, and the countless ways she brought joy to others.

Maria dedicated her life to her family and community, most notably through her work as the owner of Mary’s Variety Store—a neighborhood cornerstone where stories were shared, friendships bloomed, and everyone was welcomed with a smile. Her warmth turned everyday interactions into lasting memories, and her store into a second home for many.

Beyond her work, Maria embraced life with creativity and care. She delighted in singing, sewing, and knitting, often using these talents to craft heartfelt gifts for those she loved. Her cooking was legendary—rich in flavor and made with love—gathering family around the table for meals filled with laughter, stories, and the comfort of home.

She is now reunited with her loving husband Antonio. Maria is survived by her son, Santo Giorgianni, and daughter-in-law, Anna, who continue to honor her legacy of love and devotion. She was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren: Anthony Giorgianni and his partner Jennifer, Jennifer Giorgianni and her partner Arthur, and Ashley Cabral and her partner Rui. Each of them carries cherished memories of time spent with her—moments filled with warmth, kindness, and affection.

Maria also held a deep love for all her children. Though life's paths sometimes led them in different directions, they were never far from her thoughts.

She remained deeply connected to her siblings, who were a constant source of love and support throughout her life. Her brother Vincenzo Di Nuzzo and his wife Lucia, sister Lucia Alvarez and her husband Daniel, as well as brothers Gulio Di Nuzzo with his wife Angela, and Rosalba Fuda with her husband Leonardo, shared countless moments of joy, strength, and laughter that enriched her journey.

As we remember Maria, we celebrate a life well-lived—one defined by compassion, resilience, and an endless capacity to give. May we carry forward the lessons she taught us: to love freely, cherish family, and find beauty in the simple moments.

Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St, between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery, it is the first building on your left. The family will receive guests on Friday April 25, 2025 at 12:00pm until the commencement of the service at 1:30pm with entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery.
