Maria Scavuzzo

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Maria Scavuzzo on October 28, 2022. Mom will be dearly missed by her husband of 66 years Vito. Daughters Vicky (Scott) and Mela, her grandchildren Melissa, Shawn, Alexander (Stephanie), Andrew (Loretta), and Anthony, her great grandchildren Matteo predeceased, Serena and Aria. Siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends.

Mom’s world was her family, she was a devoted wife, loving mother and super proud nonna and bisnonna.

She was such an amazing cook, her lemon cookies and hazelnut biscotti were incredible. She loved to play cards with her grandkids, especially scopa and briscolla, she was either a really lucky player, or she may have been a bit of a cheater. Mom had no formal education but she was as smart as a whip. She had a wicked sense of humor, often telling some pretty dirty jokes. She had such a positive attitude, she was loud and quite feisty but always so loving.

Rest in peace, we love you so much.

Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St. between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery (5830 Bathurst St.). After the long driveway, it is the first building on your left. The family will receive guests on Monday November 7, 2022 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. until the commencement of the service at 1 p.m. Entombment is to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum (4570 Yonge St, North York).
