Mario Marozzo

April 29, 1935 – January 8, 2024

Mario Marozzo, a beloved husband, father, brother, son and friend to so many passed away on January 8, 2024 at the age of 88 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Born on April 29, 1935, in Zumpano Cosenza, Italy to the late Carmine and Marietta. Mario moved to Canada in pursuit of a better life and soon became an integral part of the neighborhood he served.

Mario is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years to Maria. Cherished father to Danny (Carmela), Tony, and Ida (Shyam).  Loving grandfather to Daniel, Lillianna, Gabrielle and Natalie. Dear brother to the late Nicolina, the late Gina, the late Ida, the late Annina, the late Teresa, Assunta, the late Giuseppe, Eugenio, and the late Iola.

Mario possessed a natural talent for hairstyling, with his signature military brush cut as his only style of choice.  With his skilled hands and warm demeanor, he transformed the simple act of grooming into an art form which quickly gained recognition among his friends and family. Mario’s barber shop was not just a place where hair was cut; it was a haven where stories were shared, laughter echoed through the air, and friendships were forged.

Outside of work, Mario embraced life with enthusiasm. He had an insatiable appetite for physical fitness, as he was a lifetime member at Good-Life Fitness.  He forged many memories with friends at the gym, as his enthusiasm for weight training was displayed regularly. 

Mario’s legacy extends far beyond his professional accomplishments. He was a pillar of strength and love for his family. He was one of the original ushers of St. Jane Frances Parish.  He was also one of the original coaches of the St. Jane Frances Soccer Club in the early 70s.   As we bid farewell to this pillar of our community, let us remember Mario with gratitude for the joy and warmth he brought into our lives. May his memory live on, inspiring us to embrace each moment and find beauty in every connection we make.

Sunnybrook Hospital

Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St. between Finch and Steeles on the west side), the first building on your left located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery. The family will receive guests on Tuesday January 16, 2024, from 4 to 8pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the Trillium Chapel of Westminster on Wednesday January 17, 2024 at 11:00am with entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery.
