It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mario Pimpinella, a beloved husband, father, brother, nonno and friend. Passing on June 10th, 2025 at the age of 90, he provided love and support to those closest to him. Born on July 5, 1934, Mario was one of six children born to Giuseppe Pimpinella and Antonia Pensiero in Santa Maria Infante, Latina, Italy. Mario immigrated to Canada in 1958, following his love and soon to be wife Assunta, which began the start of their beautiful family.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Assunta, who stood by his side through every journey of life. Together, they nurtured a family that thrived on love, laughter, and shared experiences. Their children, Joe (Irena) and Antonella (late Joseph) reflect the values and enjoyment for life Mario instilled, guiding their own families with the same love he provided.
Mario’s legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren: Mario (Bianca), Roberto, Gianluca, and Susanna. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit, embodying his kindness, strength and generosity.
Prior to immigrating to Canada, Mario served in the military as a driver for his superiors. But he left his heart in Italy; Mario and Assunta spent over 20 years going back to Italy to enjoy their summers by the sea in Scauri. They also spent their winters as snowbirds in Florida. Between Italy and Florida Mario made memories with friends and family; you could always find him playing cards, laughing, dancing and sharing an espresso or even a glass of limoncello.
Mario was not just a generous individual; he embodied the spirit of joy and community. His heart brimmed with passion for the Lazio Soccer team, and he found immense pleasure in cycling, traveling, and sharing moments at family gatherings. Each of these interests enriched his life and the lives of those around him, enabling him to forge many cherished memories with his loved ones.
He is also survived by his beloved siblings—Celia (Domenico), who remains a pillar of support, while acknowledging the loss of beloved siblings Maria, Luciano, Liliana, and Antonio, which deepens the ache of his departure. He was also loved by his nieces and nephews.
Mario Pimpinella was not just a father, grandfather, and friend; he was a guiding light whose love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. His rich life will never be forgotten, and he will remain forever in our hearts, cherished and celebrated.
