Mark came into this world as a tiny and courageous fighter and left us after battling with determination and dignity. Mark refused to ever give up or give in and set an example for all of us. He was truly remarkable and had a positive impact on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Mark had an unmistakable sense of humor and kind gentle manner. Beloved son of the late Nathan and Ruth Firestone and predeceased by his son Ryan. He leaves behind his devoted wife and soulmate Lilisol and her family, his twin brother Stephen, sister-in-law Wendy Linden and nieces Sarah and Danya. He also leaves his devoted cousins Harvey and Ruth Klein and their families, his late cousin Manny Klein and his American cousins. Mark was trained in social services and had a distinguished career as discharge planner for many years at North York General Hospital which he carried out with great compassion and skill. Later he was able to use his signature humour and empathy working with youth battling alcohol and drug addiction. He shared a love of the Philippine’s with his mother who served there, and spent some of his happiest times there with Lilisol. Thank you to the doctors and staff at Toronto General Hospital for their care over the decades. Donations can be made to the Transplant Program at UHN Foundation.
