In Loving Memory of Michael Filippelli April 30, 1948 – April 17, 2025
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Michael Filippelli announces his peaceful passing on April 17, 2025. Mike was 76 years old and left this world in the arms of his beloved wife, surrounded by love.
Michael’s memory will be forever cherished by his cherished wife of over 50 years, Margaret (née Desjardins), his devoted daughters Lise Russo (Rossano) and Michelle, his loving sister Angelina (Fred), and his brother Italo (Nancy). He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, Emily Rubino (Arthur), Luisa Perri (Marcello), Natalie, and Christina Filippelli, Jimmy, Tim and Keith Desjardins and fondly remembered by a wide circle of family, friends, and neighbours who were fortunate to know his warmth, humour, and generosity.
Born on April 30, 1948, in Rende, Calabria, Italy, Mike immigrated to Toronto, Canada with his family in 1956 in pursuit of new beginnings and greater opportunities. A true example of dedication and integrity, Mike was a loyal and hardworking employee at ERCO Worldwide for an extraordinary 50 years. He also carried a strong entrepreneurial spirit, maintaining a successful career in real estate with Royal LePage West for nearly four decades.
Mike took great pride in his work, but his most cherished roles were those of husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was deeply committed to his family, always placing them at the center of his world. Whether it was organizing the wine for a home-cooked meal, sharing heartfelt advice, or lending a helping hand, Mike’s quiet strength and unwavering support never faltered.
He was the master of dad jokes, delighting everyone with his humor and impeccable timing. His presence filled a room with warmth and laughter, and he had a rare gift of making people feel welcome and seen. Mike loved life’s simple joys: a good cappuccino, a sunny day in the gazebo, a spirited conversation, and most of all, time with his family.
Mike and Margaret built a beautiful life together in Etobicoke, where they raised their two daughters and created a home full of love, laughter, and resilience. He took great pride in being part of their lives and was a constant source of encouragement and strength.
Mike also loved being a part of the broader community and took great interest in the lives of those around him, always offering a good story, real estate updates or a glass of wine.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Forever in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
In memory of Michael, and in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Dorothy Ley Hospice.
