With great sadness, the family of Rosina Antonietta Orrico announces her passing on September 17, 2026.
Rosina was born on November 2, 1935, in Rende, in the Province of Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, and later made her home in North York, Ontario, Canada. Her life spanned more than nine decades, from her beginnings in Calabria to the home and family she built in Canada.
Rosina was the beloved wife of Emilio, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. She was a loving mother to Silvana (Enzo), Giorgio (Lisa), and Tony, and a cherished grandmother to Adam (Carla), Samantha (Johnny), Andrew, Alexandra (Michael), and David (Natalia). She was also the proud great-grandmother of Camila, Sebastian, Sylvie, Theo, and Marcie. Rosina will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, her many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Rosina loved babies and loved to work, always finding something to keep her hands and heart busy. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, tending both flowers and vegetables, and she was skilled at knitting and embroidering.
For Rosina, the kitchen was another place where she could do what she loved while bringing her family together. Her lasagna and stuffed eggplant were family favourites, and during the holiday season, there was always baking to be done. She made a coffee cake once a week, making sure there was always something ready to offer anyone who came through her door.
Sundays held their own special tradition. Rosina would prepare homemade sauce and pizza for the family who came over, creating a weekly gathering around the table. These simple and familiar traditions became part of the rhythm of family life and are among the memories her loved ones will continue to carry with them.
Through the meals she prepared, the garden she tended, the things she made by hand, and the traditions she maintained, Rosina created countless memories for the generations of family around her.
Rosina appreciated her quite or alone time, on any given day, she could be found sitting on the back deck staring at the ravine surrounded by trees and wildlife.
She will be deeply missed by Emilio and their family, and lovingly remembered by all those who shared in her long life.
We also want to take a moment and thank all the amazing people at the Reactivation Centre, Finch West Site.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory Rosina to Alzheimer's Society
