On August 16, 1982, Sohail Iqbal and Beulah (Isaac) were blessed with their first-born son Shakeel. With his birth his maternal grandparents Pr. & Mrs. B. M. Isaac (predeceased) added another grandchild to their family. His birth gave new titles to his paternal grandparents Chaudhary & Begum I. M. Iqbal (predeceased) as their first and eldest grandson. He was an older brother to Shazia (sister) and Shahid (brother).

Shakeel completed his education and joined the workforce. He enjoyed his career opportunities in Calgary and Vancouver. In 2018 he married Samantha (McCavour) and they were blessed with a daughter Ava Grace on August 12, 2019. Ava was Shak’s pride and joy. Shak and Sam decided to move back to Ontario to have Ava closer to the family.

For the past four years Shakeel had undergone many procedures and surgeries requiring ongoing care. After his latest surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital, his strength and physical recovery was not as expected. His family and friends surrounded him with well wishes and prayers. He got the chance to have those closest to him say their goodbyes either in person or over the phone. Finally, on July 9, 2025 @ 4 pm Shakeel passed away while surrounded by his closest family and loved ones, he was comforted by the music he loved and the words being spoken to him. Truly, he was given a very peaceful passing after a long hard road filled with challenges.

He leaves behind grieving parents, sister Shazia (Craig), and brother Shahid (Sumeeta). A heartbroken spouse, Sam and his beautiful daughter Ava Grace. His many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces are feeling his loss. He is predeceased by his grandparents.

We the family of Shakeel would like to express our heartfelt thanks to you all for the outpouring of love and support you gave us during our time of loss. We would also like to thank the medical team and staff at Brampton Civic Hospital, Rockcliffe Care Community and St. Michael’s Hospital for the care they provided to him in the past few years.

Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St, between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery, it is the first building on your left. The family will receive guests on Sunday July 13, 2025 from 11:00am until the commencement of the service at 12:30pm. A private Cremation will take place at a later time.
