Obituary

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt reflection that we announce the passing of Sun Ping Yeung, affectionately known to many as "Sunny," who left us on May 24, 2026, in Newmarket. Born on December 24, 1949, Sunny’s life was a tapestry woven with kindness, cheerfulness, and an unwavering devotion to family and faith.

Sunny was a man whose presence brightened every room he entered. Known for his warm, easygoing nature and his genuine love for connecting with people, he embraced life with a joyful spirit. His passions for traveling, savoring good food, and swimming were reflections of his vibrant soul, always seeking to cherish each moment fully. Despite the challenges he quietly faced with illness, Sunny remained remarkably strong and resilient, never once burdening those around him with complaints or sorrow. His determination to protect others from worry was a testament to the depth of his love and selflessness.

Family was the cornerstone of Sunny’s existence. He loved his siblings dearly and held a special place in his heart for them, treasuring the bonds they shared. Above all, Sunny dedicated everything to his family, his proudest accomplishment and the source of his greatest joy. He is survived by his beloved son, Anlian Yeung, and his daughter-in-law, Irene Wong, who carry forward his legacy of love and devotion.

A devoted Christian, Sunny lived his faith daily, finding strength and solace in his beliefs, which guided him through life’s trials and triumphs alike. His kindness and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him, inspiring compassion and warmth.

To honor Sunny’s life and the many lives he touched, a visitation will take place on June 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed immediately by a Celebration of Life from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Both services will be held at the Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre, located at 5826 Bathurst Street, Toronto, ON M2R 1Y6. These gatherings will offer friends and family a chance to share memories, find comfort, and pay tribute to a man whose kindness and cheerfulness enriched our lives.

Sunny’s legacy is one of enduring love, quiet strength, and a heart open to joy and fellowship. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we remember Sunny, may we carry forward the warmth of his smile, the simplicity of his joy, and the depth of his dedication to family and faith.

Rest in peace, dear Sunny. Your journey here may have ended, but your light and love remain forever in our hearts.
