With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Vincenzo Macario on July 3, 2026, in Toronto, at the age of 85.
Born on December 22, 1940, in Sant’Alessio d’Aspromonte (Calabria, Italy) to Pasqualino and Maria, Enzo’s life began during the turbulent times of WWII. Despite the hardships, his friendships and devotion to his family helped him through and strengthened his character.
His childhood was spent exploring the hills and valleys, roaming from one town to the next, with his trusty companions of adventure, getting into innocent mischief like stealing figs or crashing motorbikes - hopefully his role as an altar boy will have granted him forgiveness.
As a young adult, the letters exchanged with his childhood sweetheart eventually led him to Toronto, where he married the dear, late Melina. Together, they created memories and a family. After her passing, he cherished her memory and continued their passion for gardening.
Since his childhood, Enzo’s fascination with electronics sparked countless hours tinkering, ever curious about how things worked and how small changes could make a difference.
It was his talent as a barber however, that made him well known and respected among his many clients at Las Vegas Men’s Hair Stylists. With his late partner, Freddy, they would greet their clients with a smile and a patient ear. Clients would leave with a perfect haircut…and maybe even a drink or two from the back.
With his brothers-in-law, there were always noisy construction projects at home - to the despair of neighbours - which all created treasured memories. Summers at the cottage, fishing and debating whether those mushrooms were edible, were all moments he enjoyed wholeheartedly.
Loving father to Pat (Rizni) and Mary (Emanuele). Proud Nonno to Chiara, Nadia, Alberto and Luca. Loving brother to Concetta (late Vincenzo) and the late Franca (Pat). The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his caregiver, Yasmin, for the compassionate care, kindness, and dedication she provided in the final years of his journey.
He will be fondly remembered by his extended family, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
