Caterina Cimino

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Caterina Cimino on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born in Calabria, Italy, on March 24, 1942, to the late Giacinto and Maria Cristiano, Caterina built a beautiful life defined by devotion, integrity, kindness, and an unwavering love for her family. She was a pillar of strength, warmth, and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to a friend, neighbour, or anyone in need.

She was the beloved wife of the late Luigi Cimino, with whom she shared many wonderful years of marriage and a beautiful life together. Their love and devotion to one another remained a cherished part of her life.

Caterina was a devoted and cherished mother to Concetta (Gino), Maria (Giacinto), Pasquale (Maria), and Gianfranco (Tina). Her greatest joy and pride were her family, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

She was a proud Nonna to Jessica (Louis), Giovanna (Pasquale), Caterina (Domenico), Alexandra (Marco), Antonio, Luca, Alessandro, and Luciano. She was an adoring Bisnonna to Alessia, Maria-Giovanna, Gaia, Semona, Michelle, Carmine, Selina, Olivia, and Tiago.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings, Pino (Teresa) and Tina (Totto), her many nieces and nephews, extended family, and a large circle of lifelong friends both in Canada and Italy. She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, her parents, and her dear late daughter, Concetta.

Caterina’s love extended beyond her immediate family. She had a special place in her heart for the family dog, Mocha, who brought her much happiness and companionship.

Above all, family was the centre of Caterina’s world. Her home was filled with love, warmth, laughter, and the traditions she carried with her from Calabria. She gave of herself endlessly to those she loved and never hesitated to put the needs of her family before her own. Her strength, generosity, and loving spirit will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with her beloved Luigi and the loved ones who went before her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, its doctors, nurses, and caregivers for their compassionate care, kindness, and support.
